Missions
WHAT: Valley Ministries believes showing Christ's love locally and throughout the world. We have been able to support the following ministries:
The Fistula Foundation - We presently give a monthly donation to Fistula Foundation for their humanitarian efforts helping Ethiopian women who have been seriously injured in complicated child birth.
EMI Global - We also give monthly financial support to EMI Global - Specifically for their church planting work in Tiawan.
Camino Seguro - Six members of Valley Ministries were able to serve on a week long mission trip [photo album] to Camino Seguro (Safe Passage). Camino Seguro offers education, health services, nutrition, and hope to the children living near the Guatamala City Dump. We look forward to future trips and ongoing financial support to this incredible ministry.
Mother of Peace Orphanage - Our most recent mission project consists of monthly financial support to Mother of Peace Orphanage in Zimbabwe. Mother of Peace houses and cares for children from the age of 2 months to 18 years. Most of these children have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS, and many of them are, themselves, HIV-positive. Funds given to this project support the cost of food, clothing, and schooling of the children. Additionally, family houses are being built as the orphanage population continues to increase.
Local Community Outreach - We have also, as a congregation, been able to generously give to those in our community who have found themselves in need. We have given Easter baskets and Christmas stockings to children in shelters and foster programs, we have given thermoses of soup and backpacks full of supplies to the homeless, and we provided homeless children with backpacks and school supplies at the beginning of the school year.
WHY: Valley Ministries is committed to the call to Missions! Acts 1:8 says, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth,” we have established our four-fold purpose: To be a tree of life in our own communities, in the Valley, in our nation, and throughout the world. Although this is no small task, we know that with God all things are possible.
